Collection: Truck Bed Extender

10 products

Truck bed extenders let a short bed carry kayaks, ladders, lumber, long pipes and other cargo that would otherwise hang unsupported past the tailgate. This collection has two kinds: hitch-mounted extenders that slide into a 2 in receiver and adjust in width and height to suit full-size and mid-size pickups, and flip-over extenders that bolt to the bed and swing out over the dropped tailgate, including versions fitted to the 2015–2026 Ford F-150, F-150 Lightning and 2016–2026 Toyota Tacoma.

Because most of these are universal, OMOTOR lists the adjustment range and load rating on each page so you can match it to your truck, and guarantees fitment on anything tagged for a specific model. Shipping within the US is free from our US warehouse, returns are accepted for 90 days, and a 1-year warranty applies.

What to look for

  • Mount type: hitch-mount extenders work on any truck or SUV with a receiver and need no drilling; flip-over units attach to the bed and stay out of the way of towing.
  • Receiver size: most hitch extenders require a 2 in receiver; a 1-1/4 in hitch will need an adapter, which reduces capacity.
  • Width range: compare the adjustable width, such as 46 to 65 in, against your bed width and the load you plan to carry.
  • Load rating: a stated capacity assumes evenly distributed cargo tied down at both ends; overhanging loads still need flags per local rules.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a hitch-mount extender with the tailgate up?

Most hitch extenders are built to work with the tailgate down so the cargo rests on the tailgate and the extender supports the end. Some adjust tall enough to clear a closed tailgate; check the height range on the listing before ordering.

Do I lose my hitch for towing?

With a hitch-mount extender, yes, while it is installed, since it occupies the receiver. If you tow regularly, a flip-over extender that mounts in the bed leaves the receiver free, which is why we list model-specific flip-over units for the F-150 and Tacoma.

Will the Tacoma flip-over extender fit my 2015 Tacoma?

No. The Tacoma extender here is tagged for the 2016–2026 trucks, which use a different bed and tailgate from the 2005–2015 generation. Owners of the earlier truck can use one of the universal hitch-mount extenders instead.
